Genesis 3 11:15
11: And He said, “Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?”
12: And the man said, “The woman whom Thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.”
13: And the Lord God said unto the woman, “What is this that thou hast done?” And the woman said, “The serpent beguiled me, and I ate.”
14: And the Lord God said unto the serpent, “Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field. Upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life.
15: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her Seed; It shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise His heel.”
Open For Discussion
Here within these verses, we discovered that the narration of God is somewhat angry and forceful. Many philosophical/theological debates ask, is God an unconditional loving Father whom is reasonable, patient and kind or is He a demanding, controlling, zealous Father whom does not like disobedience?
Therefore, such mixed signals of God’s personality can cause division amongst seekers. From those of faith to those of disregard. Confusion tends to lean seekers to either walk away or to instigate further.
Skepticism is quite a healthy human trait. Therefore, it is always a recommendation to contemplate any reading of spiritual texts. Some passages can speak to you and other passages can be a hit and miss. Remember the wise old axiom “There is Truth in All Things”, including other spiritual works or mythologies from around the world.
As the Bible is a book written with approximately over 700 stories. These stories will often conflict. We are then asked to reason bible content with only bible context with no outside authoritarian works. Which is a shame. Due to that, we can always have fresh new perspectives from outside sources.
Snakes within the middle east can be very deadly. Due to that, the story of Eden has such an antagonist. Also, self-judgement and degradation is one of humanities greatest downfall. That is why we need to learn to be kinder and gentler with ourselves.
11: God spoke to Man/Adam, “Who told you to feel shame and embarrassment?” “Did I not tell you to stay away from judgement”
12: Man/Adam responded, “It is not I at fault, for I followed my partner, for I too wanted to know judgement and be like You”
13: God then spoke to Woman/Eve, “Why did you wish to know judgement?”, Woman/Eve responded, “The serpent influenced Me, Father”.
14: And God turned to his serpent in jest and chained it to dwell forever in the world of sand and dust.
15: Between Man and Woman and forever their Children will curse thy serpents. For Humanity can kill serpents and serpents can kill humanity.
